The genesis of Watchelp
If the Watchelp application meets the needs of people with cognitive disorders so well, it is not by chance. Who better to create such a tool than a person directly concerned by it? Indeed, it is Estelle Ast, president of the company Watchelp and mother of a young autistic boy, who is at the origin of this invention. She explains how she got the idea.
Autonomy at your fingertips
As you can see in this short video, the Watchelp application has guided Allan for several years in all his daily tasks.
It is important to note that this tool works like a brain training method. After receiving the same instructions every day, in this or that environment, we notice that many people end up doing things spontaneously on their own. This is what we call learning through repetition.
By the way, Allan is now 16 years old and he doesn’t need his watch anymore !
More than an app, a story :
“When her son Allan is diagnosed with autism at the age of two, Estelle’s world falls apart. But once the shock of the announcement is over, she refuses to let it get her down and decides to do everything she can to give her child the best life possible.
The obstacles are incalculable and often seem insurmountable. In our society, nothing is adapted to him, neither the school where he has no place, nor the infrastructures, and even less the mentalities. So Estelle fights, creates a care structure, launches awareness campaigns and moves heaven and earth. Today, at 15 years old, Allan is autonomous, he takes the subway alone, manages his accounts and appointments.
In this moving testimony, Estelle recounts her battlefield journey, which is above all a tremendous message of hope: with a lot of love and perseverance, we can offer an autistic child a fulfilling and dignified life.”
